I see dead people…

Maybe nobody noticed but the world wide web is filling up with dead people. First there were all those people blogging their brains out even though nobody else cares. Now, it seems, even dead people have their own websites. Like the Grateful Dead. Like Warren Zevon. Like Johnny Cash. Really. They all still have web sites. Like Carl Hiassen, though it’s possible we have him mixed up with some other novelist and he’s still kicking.

Do we really have room for all this stuff? Isn’t that weird and just a little spooky?

George is on the job…

“Losing a job is painful, and I know Americans are concerned about the economy,” Mr. Bush said. Now those are reassuring words, don’t you think?

Big is so good…

Somebody pinch me. The president of Washington Mutual, one of  the biggest housing lenders, is paid $1 million a year and is in line for a bonus of up to $4.1 million this year despite a collapsing stock price and rising foreclosure rates. Of course we need to take all those peoples’ houses. We need to sell them. How else can we pay these people the salaries they seem to think they deserve?

With friends like that…

John McCain should remember the old adage, “You will be known by the company you keep.” when he is hanging around with our fearless leader, “W.” After he finishes convincing us that the Iraq war is a good thing, that $4 gasoline is a good thing and that the economy is doing just fine thank you, this guy expects to be elected president? Really? Of what, the local dog catchers’ union?
